Kantele with authentic original design This instrument is in stock now! All photos are actual photos of the instrument. You'll get what you see.
This is my own kantele. I made it in late 2014. Since then, it has accompanied me on many hikes and travels. The kantele clearly shows signs of use: scratches, chips, peeling paint, signs of repair, rusty strings in some places, and fire ash embedded in the body.
The most important thing you should know is that this instrument has the best sound of any instrument I've ever made. I'm afraid to change the strings or clean the kantele for fear of accidentally losing some unknown magic that creates such a sound.
One interesting thing is that on my YouTube channel, if you see me playing the kantele in a cover video, there's a 50% chance that the picture shows one instrument, and the sound was recorded on that instrument.
Kantele also known as Kokle or Gusli – handcrafted Nordic plucked string instrument rooted in ancient Finnish and Karelian musical traditions. Known for its clear, bell-like tone and hypnotic resonance, the kantele is ideal for melodic playing, drones, and meditative soundscapes. Traditionally played on the lap or table, the kantele features a simple yet elegant body shape that emphasizes natural resonance and sustain. Depending on the model, it may include multiple strings arranged for diatonic or modal tuning, making it suitable for both traditional folk music and modern ambient performance. Widely used in Nordic folk, ritual music, sound healing, and solo acoustic playing, the kantele evokes the calm, mystical atmosphere of Northern landscapes and ancient songs.
